What is the Idyll Ecological Investigation?

The Idyll Ecological Investigation is Aniimo’s recurring catch-to-order event. The Polaris Institute publishes an Ecological Investigation List, you catch the Aniimo on it, and every completed line adds Investigation Points toward milestone rewards. Each target only pays the first time, so this is a breadth task rather than a grind.

The event is aimed at a different habit than most of the calendar. Where Who’s That Aniimo asks for a camera and Operation Egg Heist asks for a squad, this one rewards catching you were probably going to do anyway: it names species and forms, and pays for the first registration. That makes it the cheapest source of Sparkling Crystals available to a mid-game Pathfinder, provided you read the list before you leave the outpost.

How do Investigation Points work, and what actually counts?

Investigation Points are awarded per completed investigation line. Catch the Aniimo the list names, in the form it names, and that line is marked complete and its points land. Points are awarded once per target, wherever you catch it, and the event panel shows both the current total and the milestone you are working toward.

1. Open the list before you travel. The list changes with the 04:00 server reset during a launch-style cycle, so reading it first lets you plan one route that covers several targets instead of teleporting target by target.
2. Check the form on every line. A listed Rainstorm or regional form only counts when you catch that exact form. Owning the right species in another shape does not complete the line, and this is the single most common reason a catch is not credited.
3. Prioritise species you have never registered. If the investigation target is an Aniimo the Pathfinder has not yet registered in the Aniilog, the points for completing its investigation for the first time are doubled. Those lines are worth two ordinary targets each.
4. Track and catch. The event menu lets you track the target and teleport to the nearest point for its habitat. From there it is an ordinary catch, so catching gear and Aniipod choice matter as much as the route does.
5. Claim the milestones. Accumulated Investigation Points unlock milestone rewards at fixed thresholds, and the rewards are claimed from the event panel rather than delivered automatically.

The double-points rule is the part worth planning around, because it inverts the obvious order. A veteran who owns most of the roster should save unregistered species for weeks when they appear on the list, while a new Pathfinder is effectively earning double on almost everything they catch. If you have just finished the story and the full Aniimo list is mostly blank, this event is the highest-yield thing on your calendar.

What does the Idyll Ecological Investigation pay?

Game8 lists three reward types for the event: Sparkling Crystal x20, Aniipod Track x5 and Credits x20,000. The full payout is spread across milestone thresholds rather than handed over at the end, and the event listing confirms that accumulated Investigation Points unlock milestone rewards at fixed thresholds.

The exact Investigation Point thresholds for each milestone, and the number of points a single completed line is worth, are not published anywhere I could verify. Both the in-game event panel and every guide describe “fixed thresholds” without printing the numbers, so this page does not invent them. If you need the exact ladder, open the event tab and read the counter: it names the next milestone and the points still required.

Weather and time-of-day forms are the usual blockers on a list, and they are the reason a cycle can stall on one line. What is the weekly and per-round rhythm?

The launch cycle ran from 16 to 20 September with a new list published every day, and the daily entries are labelled Idyll Ecology Field Notes. Two later cycles ran for a full week each and were themed on a region’s unique forms rather than on a daily refresh.

Dates are the EU server’s, in UTC, and windows open and close at 04:00 server time; the NA server runs four hours later and the Asia server eight hours earlier. The two October rounds are reported to be themed on a region’s unique forms, the Sea of Flowers first and the mountain forest second, which is a single-source detail rather than something printed on the event card.

The rhythm to internalise is that the list refreshes faster than the reward track does. Points accumulate across a cycle, so a missed day costs you that day’s lines rather than the whole run: the milestone counter does not reset at the daily rollover during a multi-day cycle. What does reset is the list itself, so a target you skipped on Tuesday may not be there on Wednesday.

Community reports of unclaimed Investigation rewards arriving by mail after a reset exist, but mail delivery is a compensation gesture rather than a guarantee. Claim the milestones on the day you cross them.

What is still unconfirmed about this event?

Several things about the Idyll Ecological Investigation are genuinely unresolved, and this page deliberately leaves them open rather than filling the gaps.

• Milestone thresholds. Not published. Every source describes fixed point requirements without quoting the numbers.
• Points per completed line. Not published, and the double-points rule is applied to an unknown base value.
• Whether the tab stays open between cycles. Game8 lists it as permanent; the community calendars show dated windows. Both could be true of the tab and the list respectively.
• The themed rounds. The Sea of Flowers and mountain forest themes for the October cycles come from one source.
• Whether the reward totals above are per cycle or per milestone. Game8 lists one set of totals without saying how they are split.

If you are building a weekly plan around this event, treat it as low-effort, medium-value and highly variable: read the list on reset day, catch what you can, register new species deliberately, and claim the milestones as they land. That approach captures almost all of the value whether or not the numbers turn out to be what a guide claims.
